Keiko Takamura / Amy Te

Keiko began as every other female resident avatar of Second Life starts out — thin, with whoreish makeup and a lilac-colored top with L$200 to her name. Eventually, she got a makeover. After that mission was accomplished, she stumbled upon Multiverse Records where she saw a hefty, chainsmoking avatar named Derek Tones playing his guitar. She and the fat man became friends, and he showed her the ancient art of audio streaming.

She started playing regular shows, building up an in-world fanbase, and is currently immensely enjoying the positive reaction she gets from her crowds.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the screen was Amy Te, a native Californian who had a guitar in her hand and a song in her notebook for seven years. All she lacked was an audience. Now, with the support of her friends and family and other SL musicians, she plans on bringing her music to her real life (or “RL” as we refer to it in-game).

Her influences are many: Portishead, Tori Amos, Shiina Ringo, Alanis Morrisette, No Doubt, Garbage, Hole, Poe, Beangrowers, Sneaker Pimps, Enon, Blonde Redhead, Dressy Bessy, The Cardigans, Veruca Salt, The Breeders, Bjork, Splashdown, and quite possibly every other band with a female lead vocalist. 90’s alternative rock bands, all of them. For better or for worse. And last but not least, Dan (The Automator) Nakamura.

Wendy Curtiss / Wendy Lee

“A dynamic and powerful vocalist, her seductive style ranges from sweet innocence to hard-hitting, stomp your backside attitude as she wraps herself around a song.”

Wendy Lee is a long-time seasoned singer, songwriter and musician. Singing began early in life, at around eighteen months old, according to her mother. By the time she started Kindergarten, her teacher, a music major, told Wendy’s parents that she had “perfect pitch”. That, coupled with the fact that Wendy was not shy about getting up in front of people, gave her a head start in the entertainment world.

At fifteen years of age, her band, “The Mosettes”, performed around her hometown region, winning music contests and awards. The band was comprised of two guitars, and four part harmonies, with Wendy singing lead. This continued until she left for college.

At twenty-two, Wendy became a professional musician, performing as lead singer and guitarist in a country-rock band, “The Golden Fleece”. They performed regularly in the clubs around Danbury, Connecticut, until she decided to “ get back to roots”, and go West. At this time, she started performing solo, and the name, “Wendy Lee”, was born.
